Vigil for Fur-Bearing Animals
Join Compassionate PDX the day after Fur Free Friday for a vigil for fur-bearing animals. We will be gathering for a briefing and then marching to a decommissioned fur farm for a closing ceremony and dedication by our community to shutting down this violent, bloody industry for good.
The vigil will be at the former Weisdorfer fur farm, which opened in 1951 and confined and killed hundreds of thousands of mink before closing in 2018. Attendees will learn about the history of the fur industry in Oregon and why it’s so important to keep educating and agitating to keep the fur industry from coming back from the dead again and again.
Directions from Portland:
Take OR-99E S/SE McLoughlin Blvd. south through Milwaukie. Merge onto OR-224 E via the ramp to Clackamas/Estacada. and continue for 6 miles.
