World Day for Laboratory Animals – Portland

Join fellow Portland-area activists for this important 2-part event in honor of World Day for Laboratory Animals.
All are welcome! Materials will be provided. Masks & social distancing required.
12pm: Meet at Petco (18200 NE Evergreen Pkwy, Beaverton) for the @rise_foranimals Day of Action against Marshall BioResources, a supplier of Petco and factory farm breeding dogs, cats, ferrets, pigs, and more animals to be used in experiments. https://riseforanimals.org/marshall/
12:45pm: We will conclude the Petco action and move down the street for the protest and vigil near the notorious Oregon National Primate Research Center (ONPRC) at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) which has a long history of abusing monkeys in cruel and painful experiments.
1pm: Meet at the SW corner of Walker and 185th for instructions, posters, and literature. We will then divvy up to the 4 corners of the intersection.
1:30pm: Meet back up at the SW corner of Walker and 185th to get ready for the march to the nearby Oregon National Primate Research Center (ONPRC). Prepare to walk roughly 4 blocks.
1:40pm: Arrive at ONPRC for speak out and vigil. Please bring flowers and battery-operated candles for the vigil and moment of silence.
1:55pm: Walk back to our original meeting spot.
MASKS AND SOCIAL DISTANCING REQUIRED. Free parking is available in the shopping plaza at the NW corner of Walker and 185th.
Signs and leaflets will be provided, but you are encouraged to bring your own, especially PETCO and OHSU specific ones!

Covid safe carpooling or taking the Max to the Willow Creek/SW 185th Ave TC MAX Station is highly encouraged.
